In May, IDC released a Vendor Spotlight report on Infortrend. In this report, IDC illustrates RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disks) as one of the main technologies that help companies satisfy storage requirements in availability, reliability and performance. Assessing Infortrend’s role in providing the market with new hardware offerings in the RAID space, IDC also gives advice on how to maximize Infortrend’s business opportunities in gaining a foothold in enterprise storage market.
In data centers, availability and reliability are important concerns about managing and storing data. According to IDC, the most widely used approach to addressing the two concerns has been RAID technology. Making multiple disks act as a single environment, RAID technology ensures data reliability during disk failure and promotes performance. Though RAID bears some inherent defects and faces challenges of newly-rising technologies, IDC believes that it will not be displaced for many years to come as the preferred tool for ensuring data reliability and availability.
